Sole Fetish is a labor of love. It's not a "rags to riches" story, but rather a lesson in the importance of determination, perseverance, and turning dreams into reality.
Traci Houston, creator of Sole Fetish, began her career at a major Fortune 500 company after receiving her Bachelor's Degree at the University of California, Berkeley and Master's Degree at Michigan State University. While her career in Corporate America was quite successful, it also became dull and uninspiring. Traci always had an entrepreneurial spirit and budding passion existing within her that yearned to be developed. It was simple - she had an innate obsession for fashion - above all, shoes! Traci always loved shopping, dressing up and finding the right accessory to perfectly compliment her favorite outfit. After years of working hard in the glass house, Traci decided to use the business acumen and marketing expertise she honed in Corporate America to help fulfill her dream of opening her own shoe and accessory boutique which would ultimately become Sole Fetish.
In 1997, Larissa Eason sat at her office desk - one year after graduating from the University of Delaware with a Mechanical Engineering Degree - realizing her heart longed for something more as well. While Larissa was happy with her job; she, too, always had a true love for fashion - especially shoes. One day while spending some really late hours at work, Larissa began developing plans to open her own shoe store. In May 2003, Larissa received her Master's Degree in Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University and one month later, Larissa and Traci met through a mutual friend - affectionately known as "Pendergrast". In June 2003, Traci partnered with Larissa who shared her vision and passion for shoes.
Traci and Larissa began tackling their lifelong dream outside of work. Working hard at a professional job for 12-14 hours daily didn't stop the driven young women from working tirelessly at night building Sole Fetish. Well-earned vacation time was spent attending trade shows in Italy, New York, Las Vegas, throwing shoe parties, finding mentors, and networking. In 2004, Traci's company relocated her to their Michigan headquarters and their budding dream seemed as if it would willow in the cold of Detroit. The two, however, were determined not to give up -- their dream was slightly deferred but not lost. Although living in separate states, Traci in Detroit and Larissa in Washington, DC; they continued to lug trunks and suitcases of shoes around to make personal sales by appointment, establish relationships with clothing boutiques, and build their clientele, name recognition, and reputation for "hot" shoes. Determined to focus solely on Sole Fetish - Traci and Larissa quit their 9-to-5 jobs and relocated to the Atlanta area where they are currently headquartered.
